31. Black Swans

“Get this vehicle moving, Stan,” I wrote on MY cape. Stan had that look of fear in his eyes when he turned his head from the drivers seat to ask ME, “where do you want to go?” We needed to go someplace where we could hide the army and make a semi-permanent base of operations. I needed to avoid anymore contact with the uniformed humans. I knew, as did the Lite and Stan, that now they were hunting to kill!

I had a few options. I could just make everyone look like a uniformed human but trying to control them all at one time would be difficult. The other option of being on MY own, without Stan and the army, would be better. “Stan,” I wrote, ” is there someplace we could go to hide that the humans won’t think to look?” Stan looked ahead, driving in the dark with the vehicle lights illuminating only the road and nothing else. “Black Swans.” I looked at Stan. He said the two words very slowly like they meant something to him.

“Black Swans?” The letters were large and bold. “Yeah..about 5 miles from here is an old amusement park…been closed for years. The place has high walls around it and only one way in or out. Man, I loved that place as a kid.” High walls and one entry/exit..that might  work. “Let’s take a look…..we need to get out of site.” Stan looked at MY cape, “You got it boss.”

I realized that even though it was dark outside one of the flying machines could still identify this vehicle with their bright lights. I thought about the other vehicles I had seen on the road in front of the building where we escaped. There was a large vehicle that was the color of this planet’s sun and it had words on it. I thought about that shape and hoped I could use the Lite Wrapping to mimic that vehicle. I projected the Lite Wrapping around our vehicle and thought about the change. I realized I should have told Stan what I was about to do because he did his typical surprised scream…”What the…boss you are a genius. I rode in one of these but never thought I’d be driving one.”

The “school bus” as Stan had called our vehicle was now only a short distance from our destination. “The sign for the park fell down years ago but the road is just up ahead,” Stan said as the vehicle began to slow down. As we turned down the road I realized I could not see the walls of the park. It was mostly hidden by plants and trees….that was good. “We are coming up to the entrance, boss.” Stan stopped the vehicle. The lights illuminated a large metal structure …. two large figures were on the front of the ….entrance. There were two words on top of the metal door….”Black Swans.”

“Gates are locked boss.” I got out of the vehicle….I looked at Stan, then the large metal entrance and summoned the Lite Ring.
