37. The More The Harrier

MY first thought was that somehow the soliders could see ME… because a group of males and females walking together shouldn’t be unusual? But they didn’t run toward me. They ran toward MY humans. Either the uniformed humans had identified people in this trance-like state to be associated with ME…or they were just plain lucky. In either case I had to make a quick decision. “Grab another twelve humans, stun the soldiers and get out of here. They will not stop until they get you.” The Lite was emphatic. Twelve more would get ME very close to the 50 I needed…plus it was getting more dangerous for ME and the captured humans.

The sudden entry of the uniformed humans startled the crowd of humans and they started to run in all directions. I needed to isolate six more males and females quickly. I spotted a group of young humans huddled behind a small building. The presence of the uniformed humans wielding their weapons made everyone take cover. I moved quickly to the huddled group, selected the six males and females and again used the Lite Ring and Nano material to stun and imprint them. I looked back at the original group of twelve and saw them surrounded by uniformed humans. It was time to move.

I told the new group of twelve to move toward the truck. At the same time I started to approach the uniformed soldiers who had circled MY first group of twelve. Then I heard it. A voice yelling out, “Boss?” It was Stan….. I thought, “what part of staying in the truck didn’t he understand?” Obviously I wasn’t the only one who heard him. Stan was immediately grabed by one of the soldiers. I thought twice about just leaving him and taking the 24 humans…but Stan was the only “awake” driver we had. It was time to get everyone back to the truck.

I moved toward the uniformed soldiers surrounding the first group, used the Lite Ring, froze them in place then went to Stans’ aid. The soldier holding Stan saw his associates freeze in place. He knew I was around somewhere. “The boss is gonna get you man. You better let me go.” Stan was yelling and trying to pull free from the soldier. The soldier’s eyes were wide open and fear was spreading over his face. A short blast from the Lite Ring held the soldier in place. Stan freed himself from the soldiers grip and smiled and looked around. I removed the reflective material and reappeared right in front of Stan.

“Oh man…… boss I was afraid for you.” I looked at him, opened MY cape and Stan saw the following words on the Lite Papr. “Afraid of what?Afraid I couldn’t use MY devices anymore? Afraid I couldn’t find the truck which is just down the hill from here? Or where you afraid that if you didn’t do something stupid two days in a row I wouldn’t like you anymore?” Stan read the words and stood stone still….just like the frozen uniformed soldiers.  I think I made MY point. We took the twenty four humans back to the truck. We were close now….
