29. And The Stars Looked Down

I looked at Stan, the eight humans on the floor and the other police and uniformed humans coming down the street toward the building all at the same time. At first I didn’t understand Stan’s comment about the men on the floor “not sleeping.”  The sudden realization that I might have hit them too hard made me stop. “Don’t worry,” the Lite wrote on MY cape, “they are not dead, just in a very deep state of sleep. In a day or two they will come out of it.” Good to knowI thought as I was now looking for an escape route out for ME and MY expanded army.

I immediately assembled MY new group and got them to exit the door and run down the road away from the oncoming human soldiers. I made sure Stan was leading the pack and gave him specific instructions on what to do. I decided again to keep the army in their original human form. I was going to stay behind and hold off the “hunters.”

It was getting darker and without the energy from the sun MY powers would be diminished. And based upon the noise and shouting of voices from outside the doorway I would need to carefully measure what powers I used.

The sun was gone. This was both good and bad. Good for keeping MY army out of sight, but bad for ME as I would need to use MY Lite defenses and lack of sun meant lack of power. With the help of the Lite I formulated a plan that might allow ME to escape without having to use much of MY power. As I looked out the door I realized I was surrounded by vehicles of all types. There were also  flying machines and hundreds of uniformed humans.

The sun was gone and the bright shiny dots in the sky were back. I needed to move and move now and put our plan into action. I immediately became reflective, stepped out into the road and searched for a large vehicle that could carry ME and the other 13 members of MY army. I spotted a large vehicle that was parked along the other side of the road. There was one human in the front of the vehicle and the back was covered with a flexible material with an open back. Other than the uniformed human I could not see anyone else in the vehicle. This was going to work.

I moved quickly to the front of the vehicle. Looked at the latching mechanism on what I presumed was the door. In one movement I pulled the latch, opened the door and jumped in next to the human and hit him with a small burst of MY Lite Ring. I didn’t know how to operate this vehicle so I had the now slightly zombie -like human follow MY instructions and take ME to MY army. As we pulled away I looked back and saw a huge group of uniformed humans entering the building….firing their weapons.
