47. I Think I Should Speak Now

Once the armed humans realized what was happening they raised their weapons and began firing in the direction from which their dogs were returning. The Elite, responding to my initial command, were already moving to the right of the human soldiers. I wanted to avoid using the Lite Ring and instructed MY Elite Captains not to engage with the soldiers unless absolutely necessary. We moved as a unit, quickly and quietly away from the soldiers. But not fast enough.

The last pack of Elite commanded by Bill had not closed ranks with the other 4 packs. As a result the projectiles from the soldiers were getting closer all the time as the soldiers began to fire randomly and in an arching left-to-right pattern. Bill stopped and commanded his pack to use their Lite Rings to stop the projectiles coming in their direction. I had warned them about the power of the Lite Ring when used by more than one Elite..they obviously didn’t remember the warning. In less than 5 seconds the 10 Elite engaged their Lite Rings, illuminated the entire force of soldiers and sent a blast of white light that melted the sand and the soldiers into one large lake of glass.

The power surprised the Elite…it surprised ME as well. I thought it would take all of us to create that kind of power. The blast also directed other human forces toward us. A large fleet of flying machines and large heavy metal vehicles were coming in our direction. On the up side the Elite were now aware of the power they possessed. On the down side the use of the Lite Ring pinpointed our location.

I directed the five Captains to move their Elite packs with ME and cease using the Lite Ring. We headed toward a series of low, brick made structures that lined a small road. As long as we stayed “reflective” they would not spot us…unless there were more dogs. I told Stan to keep his Elite pack at the back of our group with Jolie at the rear. “They can’t see my Lite Ring can they?” Jolie asked. “No, for some reason your Lite Ring is not visible to them or us…but it has the same powers,” I responded. Jolie started to respond with, “I will protect the back …..”, when a flying machine flying low overhead starting firing projectiles in our direction.

We were moving fast but the path of the projectiles were moving faster. There were large explosions on either side of us and I knew the humans were using a bombing pattern in hopes of getting lucky. I was about to tell Jolie to eliminate the flying machine if she could…and then it was gone. No sound, no Lite, just gone. “Got him….. I told YOU I would protect your back.”

It was not MY intention or the intention of Lite to destroy the humans on the journey. I needed to let the humans know we were not here to harm them…if anything we were coming to warn them. I needed to talk to them….and soon.
