“Jolie?” I tried to get the little one’s attention while trying to quickly move back in between her and the six stunned humans hoping she wouldn’t blast me away again. “I am finished,” she looked up at ME as the form vanished from her cape. I was well aware that this conflicting information fed to the Spiritual Guides and Holy Men was more than they could comprehend or even begin to accept as plausible. And, by the sound outside our small building I was now aware that Jolie didn’t or couldn’t keep her promise to maintain the “human suspension” of the people of Mecca.
“Boss? They’re coming this way…..and I mean the entire city.” I looked at Bill. “Get the humans and take your pack out away from the city. I’ll take the rest of the Elite and we will meet back at Jerusalem….and do whatever it takes to defend yourself if they spot you. Don’t forget to stay Reflective. And by all means….kill the dogs.”
The roar of the first shell hitting the building stunned everyone. I guess the safety of the Spiritual Guides was no longer a major a concern for the fine citizens of Mecca. All of the Elite were out the back door when the motor hit sending pieces of steel and wood everywhere…including into the bodies of two of the humans. Bill’s pack was carrying the two wounded as fast as they could and tried to shield them with their capes…. running in the opposite direction of MY groups.
I told Stan to keep his pack in the rear of the group and to get ready to stop and turn back toward the on-coming swarm. “Boss…what?” I knew they could not see us but if all the armed humans fired in every direction at the same time they would certainly find some targets, even though the LitePaper with the newly evolved nanomaterials could stop most projectiles, the shear number of weapons pointed in our direction would test the material. “Stan, spread out your pack along this dune, face the enemy and then use your Lite Ring’s at the same time. With the addition of Jolie’s power we may be able to slow them down for a short time.”
The flying machines were firing into the ground in front of us in an advancing pattern just ahead of the troops on horseback and those on foot. The spacing between the rounds were less than the width of MY cape….there was no mistaking their mission. The pack had fanned out with Jolie in the middle just ahead of the ten Elite and MYSELF. “Jolie…take the flying machines, the rest of us will aim at the humans on the ground.”
Coupling the force of then ten Elite with the little one and ME added to the group created a blast ten times larger than the one MY Lite generated when it split the edge of LiteWorld. The night was day, the force melted some of the sand at the feet…or what was left of the feet of the humans. I told the pack to stopĀ for a brief moment to asses the damage and determine our current situation. The day turned back to night…black..only black.
