28. Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum

The humans in the vehicles with the flashing lights got closer fast as we made our way into an open door in the building adjacent to the one we were mimicing. I made sure MY army of five was safely out of sight before I peered out the doorway. I could have just changed us to look like the building again but MY instincts told ME to minimize our exposure. Stan, who had been quiet during this transition, started with his usual banter again. “Hey boss,” he began, “that’s the police and I think the people across the road told them where we were. So I think maybe we shouldn’t be looking like you ….maybe just change us back to ourselves. What do you think…boss?”

I looked at Stan, looked outside the door and then wrote on MY cape, “If I change you back and they come in here they will take you away. You need to stay in MY image…it will confuse the …police.” Stan looked at ME. “You want to use us as decoys? ” I turned toward him, “Yes…now find a place to hide and take the others with you.”

I knew they were coming because the vehicles stopped on the road in front of the door we just entered. There were five or six vehicles and four humans dressed in uniforms carrying weapons emerged from each ….police car as Stan had called them. The humans had coverings over their heads with some sort of shield over their faces. They moved fast but stopped just short of the door opening. I looked around and noticed MY army was well hidden. I thought “reflective” so any one entering the doorway would not see ME. While I was waiting for them to come in I thought about taking advantage of this situation. After all…I did need more humans for MY army. “Are you serious?”…the Lite asked me. “Dead serious,” I thought.

Just then three armed humans entered the doorway with a number lined up behind them. I wanted as many humans as possible to enter the room so I could hit them with the Lite Ring all at once.  So I waited……Then the first three human police rushed toward ME, not knowing I was there, followed by five more humans with weapons. I immediately thought Lite Ring and put 8 of the humans in the zombie like state. But as soon as I did that another eight or ten  police rushed in with their weapons raised…..saw what I did and pointed their weapons in my general direction and started to fire them…again the Lite Ring exploded from ME, stopped the projectiles in their path and put the humans to sleep.

I looked around to see where MY initial human army collection were and saw them standing in a corner of the room behind some large equipment. Stan yelled out, “Boss….are these guys going to be in our army?” I looked at him, “Yes.” I wrote this on MY cape. “Even though they are not the paired male-female humans I wanted…these humans are trained to fight…and I need that for MY army.” Just then Stan pointed down at the floor behind me. “Boss…those last eight policemen are on the floor…not moving.” I wrote, “I know I put them to sleep.” Stan went over to one of the prone policemen and put his hand on the neck…..looked at ME and said..”Boss, they are not sleeping!”
